Eric Everson and Hilary Schrauf: Lawson, traditional music of Ireland duo

THANK YOU IAANJ & IRIS!!!

Lawson at IAANJ Session on Sat. 4/12

An evening of Tunes & Remembrance

Last Saturday we joined the fine folks from around Rockaway, NJ for a lovely evening of Irish traditional music. John Sindt and Pat, a student of Jack Coen's, both started some of the tunes he loved to play. A few stories were told as well. I even got to dance a little bit - maybe I'll get that hornpipe step down eventually!

The session featured all sorts of great tunes on the uilleann pipes, tin whistles, fiddles, accordion, guitar, harp, bouzouki, bodhran, and some lovely concertina playing by Tom Glynn. Iris Nevins was the organizer and host, and we were joined by fine NYC fiddler/box player Tom Dunne, who kicked off some great tunes! Thanks to everyone who came out to share their music with us!

Slow Session

We'll be leading the Old Songs traditional Irish Slow Session next month on Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Visit the Stoney Steps blog for access to tunes (pdf and mp3) and tune lists. All traditional instruments encouraged. We use sheet music to learn new tunes and we are now playing tunes from our repertoire at a slow speed.
